Well episode 6 of season 5, "316" aired Wednesday, 18 February 2009, and left it's audience with a whole ton of new questions? More than I could possibly fit in to this blog, but I would like to focus on the two most important scenes in this episode and probably one of the most important scenes in the whole series so far.
Jack has always been our main character known for science and logic. But, since the season 3 finale til tonight, we have watched Jack go through a total metamorphosis. Jack and Ben's suited conversation in church starring at the painting of Jesus and St. Thomas has brought light to the entire situation between Jack, John, and the entire series of Lost! Jack has a revelation.. each event leading him back to the island leaves him bewildered, from his fathers shoes to the appearance of the Oceanic survivors at the airport. John's letter is the finale stab at the old Jack and the conversation between Kate and Jack on the plane, right before the flash, is a completely new and opposite Jack! (go back and watch it!!)
I have a feeling now that there will be competition between Daniel Faraday (the new leader of the pack and physicist) and Jack (the new man of faith!)

Of course if you remember back at season 4's episode "The Constant" Faraday's theory of time travel was proven when Desmond used Penny as his 'constant' to balance out his position in time. I originally thought that the Oceanic 6 or 5 I should say, can be the constant for the islands remaining time travelers, but now it appears that Lock fixed this problem by adjusting the wheel in the Orchid..
so we still don't know why the oceanic six had to return??? maybe to get everyone back to the original time that they belong in?? ..
Episode 6 also kind of answered the question about the large slave ship "The Black Rock" which must have been at sea when the island mysteriously appeared right beneath it, leaving it stranded in the middle of the jungle. This also answers the question of how Remy's body left from Africa and landed on the island as well.
hmm??
(side fact: Faraday's last name comes from the famous physicist Michael Faraday who dealt with light manipulation and quantum physics..)
